Diagnostic value of skin vasomotion investigation in vascular diseases
نویسنده
چکیده
Skin vasomotion is the rhythmic variation of the skin microvessel diameter, responsible for the skin microcirculatory blood flow oscillation, the so called skin blood flowmotion. Experimental and clinical findings suggest that vasomotion depends on several mechanisms, such as the endothelial activity, the spontaneous myogenic activity of the microvascular wall and the sympathetic activity. Skin vasomotion can be indirectly investigated in humans by means of the spectral analysis of skin laser Doppler flowmetry tracing. A high number of studies have recently investigated skin vasomotion in patients with various vascular diseases, using this method. Findings obtained in these studies have contributed to the understanding of the pathophysiology of the microcirculatory impairment in the pathological conditions investigated. The aim of the present review is to describe the method that can be used to analyze skin vasomotion and the diagnostic value of skin vasomotion investigation in vascular diseases. Key-words:skin microcirculation, vasomotion, vascular diseases, laser-Doppler flowmetry, spectral analysis.

chapter 7 – vasomotion and adiponectin
Obesity-related microvascular dysfunction, including alterations in rhythmic changes in vascular diameter, socalled 'vasomotion', may be important in the clustering of obesity with other cardiovascular risk factors. Adipokines have been suggested to play a role in obesity-related vascular dysfunction. Alterations in vasomotion have been found using extreme body mass index (BMI) phenotypes. Whet...
متن کاملFrom ST segments to endothelial pathophysiology: hypercholesterolemia and endothelial superoxide production.
As a young medical resident, I encountered a patient suffering from spontaneous coronary vasospasm and was puzzled by these dramatic alterations in vasomotion. This encounter piqued my interest in understanding the drivers of vascular reactivity. In a paper published in the JCI, my colleagues and I revealed a role for superoxide production in the vascular dysfunction associated with hypercholes...
متن کاملWavelet analysis of the effects of static magnetic field on skin blood flowmotion: investigation using an in vivo rat model.
BACKGROUND In the literature, various in vivo studies on animals have demonstrated that a static magnetic field (SMF) might maintain microvascular tone in the cutaneous microcirculatory system by its biphasic effects on vasomotion. Here, the effects of locally applied SMF on skin blood flowmotion within the stressed or unstressed skin in the trochanter area were evaluated using wavelet analysis...

Fluoresing photography has become a prominent branch in opthalmology. During the last few years, it gives us dynamic infor-of circulation of the EYE and its pathologieal disorders.By passing the fluoresein through the retinal and choroidal vessels we are able to record the different typesand stages of disease which these are not exactly diagno-sed by ophthalmoscopy and founds photography.By flu...
متن کاملChanges in flow-mediated dilatation in patients with femoropopliteal occlusion receiving conservative and invasive treatment.
BACKGROUND Although the beneficial effect of revascularisation on reduction of local clinical ischaemic symptoms has been well established, its effect on systemic vascular endothelial function has not been fully explained yet. AIM To determine changes in endothelium-dependent flow-mediated dilatation in patients with unilateral femoropopliteal occlusion receiving medical and surgical treatmen...
